I must converter a server SCO Unix from physical to virtual machines.
The server is version 3.2 and release 5.0.6 i386 for 30 users.

I try to convert P2M Linux server SUSE SLES 11 64 bit.
The Converter server log is attach.
It is my first linux to convert.

Failed install after going to 97%
Since I installed the new version(39557), I have not been able to get a successful convert either. I had no problems yesterday using the previous version. I even installed it on another machine and still have issues.
Issues: pauses at 5% for a while then jumps to 97% and then fails. Converting live machine and using the VC server as the host. The live machine is 2003 standard.
Here is the error from the client log:

vmware converter - live clone - ubuntu - failed to connect to iso
Hi
I have an Ubuntu x64 9.10 vm in which i want to live clone (to reduce the 2nd drives size which is preallocated).
vmware tools is installed but when it runs i get this error at 1% "failed to connect iso to remote vm"
I have tried this via a live clone in vcenter, and as a copy of this as a workstation, both end the same.
According to the doco, v4.3 supports ubuntu 9.10, i am using v5 of converter.

(i am pretty sure if i was cloning a windows machine, i would get the option for a UNC path save?)

Problems virtualizing Windows 8 OEM using VMware Converter 5.1 and Player 5.02
G'day,
I recently purchased a Dell XPS8700 workstation which came with Windows 8 installed.
I want to install Ubuntu (not dual-boot) on it but before doing so I wanted to virtualize Windows 8.
So, I downloaded VMware Converter 5.1 Standalone, and used it to create a VM of Windows 8. So far so good.
I then tried to run this VM in VMware Player 5.02 (both the Windows and Ubuntu versions). Player recognises the VM correctly but when I try to power it on I see a black screen for a few seconds and then it exits. There are no error messages produced in the logs that indicate what the problem is.
Has anyone had success virtualizing Windows 8 for use with VMware Player?

Failed:unable to obtain the IP address of the helper Virtual machine
I am trying to convert the Linux based VM that is hosed on hyper-V 2012 host machine, using VMware converter standalone utility, option "Power on" but it failed at 1 % and prompt error message that is attached with this post for reference.

general system error occurred: unknown internal error
I'm using Converter Standalone Client 5.5.1 to try to p2v the last server in my estate, but it's not working
I get the error "general system error occurred: unknown internal error" just after the job is submitted and I have no idea why.
A quick read through the generated logs isn't helping me either.
Any thoughts?

not enough space on the source volumes... Error code: 2147754783 (0x8004231F).
VMWare team, please instead of showing the error and cancelling conversion of the physical machine, offer "Do you want to continue conversion anyway?" option.
I'm trying to converta physical desktop to NAS using network path (\\bnas4\vms), and getting the error. The volume has 6TB of free space but the Converted cannot determine the free space.
Please fix this!

Convert virtual machine hyper-v (Windows 2012R2) to VMware
Hi
I have a problem when trying to use standalone vCenter Converter (6.1.1) to convert virtual machines from HYPER-V (Windows 2012R2) to vSphere 6.5.
When I try to convert a VM from Hyper-V I get an error when the converter tries to retrieve the hardware inventory of the selected VM.
The error is Unable to obrain the hardware inventory for select machine.
And the converter agent installed on the Hyper-v host crashes
Strangely enough, a virtual machine (30 VM on 3 hosts) managed to convert.
The vm to convert are protected by a Hyper-v cluster and are on CSV volumes.

The problem of converting a physical machine to a virtual machine
After I run VMware Converter, I am ready to convert the local physical machine.
I mapped a remote Windows share folder to Z: disk, and then converted the destination file to Z: disk
Error after task start: "File Z:\MININT\ minint.vmx was not found"
What's the reason?

Unable to P2V Windows 2003x64 server - An error occured while opening a virtual disk
Hi.
I have a physical server Windows 2003x64 R2 Standard and try to convert it to vSphere 5.5 VM with vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5.0.
When I start task, VM is created on vSphere but after a few seconds machine is deleted and task stoped with messages: "An error occured opening a virtual disk. Verify that the Converter server and running source machine have a network acces to the source and destination esx/esxi hosts".
It's no problem with network access, I check it.
I tried many things (disable SSL on Converter server, run Converter directly on source machine, check vss providers on source...) but without success.
Any idea is welcome.

Converted Windows 2000 Server to virtual vmdk format. but not running !
Converted windows server 2000 to vmdk format using vmware Vcenter converter standalone. The conversion failed at 97 % with an error " unable to find the system volume, reconfiguration is not possible- Error: reconfiguration failed "

We're using Vcenter to P2V some of our servers. Most have worked, but the ones that fail, fail with a description that is not helpful at all.

We're tried several different ways of cloning including matching the hardware, not thin provisioning, setting permissions, using a domain admin account and still we get this error.
has anyone else had this error and figured out a solution?

P2V of a linux system is failed
Dear Team,
P2V of a linux (RHEL5.6) system is failed with following error.
FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion:
'/usr/lib/vmware-converter/copyFileSystem.sh did not finish producing output after 3600 seconds'
Please help us how to resolve this issue.

Workstation 8 to ESXi 4.1 failing using Converter 4.3 - fails @ 1%
Hi all,
Having an issue and unable to find a resolution, which is baffling me.
I created a small infrastructure on VMware Workstation 8, which I am now planning on moving to our test infrastructure, before moving to our live environment, but encountering issues.
Software used
Converter 4.3
ESXi 4.1
Workstation 8
Server 2008 R2
What I am trying to do
Move my Server 2008 virtual machine from VMware Workstation, to my ESXi 4.1 host.
The issue
Keeps on failing at 1% with the error message > FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion.
Having looked at it further on the logs, getting the following;

Infrastructure + further info
ESXi host network = 10.1.90.1/24
Workstation 8 desktop = 10.1.90.1/24
Firewall + AV turned off on desktop.
ESXi hosts added to DNS records.
Not sure how it could be a networking issue, as I can ping it all, host/ip address.
The strange
No matter what I want to move, irrespective of it being Server 2008 R2/2003/Windows 7, all of them fail at 1%
If I move a none windows machine, such as a nested ESXi image, it transfers ok with no faults ( have not tried all OS's)
I have even removed network adapters when trying to convert the machines, but still getting the same issues.
Summary
Really baffled and confused, if anyone can help, I would be most grateful.
I have attached a copy of the last log file.

Trying to P2V a Win 2008 R2 machine. Largest Physical disk is 2 TB. Yes dynamic disks. Not re-sizing, Failed at 96% after more than 2 days
